Data leak after Ferrari hack, car manufacturer does not want to pay a ransom
Unknown attackers had access to Ferrari IT systems. Now the Italian car manufacturer is being blackmailed. Customer data is used as a means of pressure.
According to a statement, Ferrari categorically refuses to pay the ransom. The company would only use this to finance criminal activities. Now the automaker has turned to customers. The cover letter states that the attackers are said to have had access to personal contact information such as email addresses and telephone numbers. Bank data or the like were not affected by the incident.
Some things are still unclear
Ferrari states that business operations are not restricted by the IT attacks. The systems should now be safe again. It is currently not known how the attackers gained access to the systems. It is also unclear at this point in time how many customers are affected by the incident and how high the ransom is.
