New Mac & i Webinar: Automated Deployment and Release Management

The more developers work on an app, the more complicated the app deployment becomes. While the tools from Apple’s Xcode development environment are often sufficient for individual developers, tools such as Fastlane or Xcode Cloud are used in larger developer teams to take over routines that would otherwise have to be carried out by hand and thus cost working time.

On premise or cloud?

The new Mac & i webinar Automated Deployment and Release Management provides insight into two different approaches of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD). On the one hand, an on-premise approach is explored with Fastlane and GitLab, in which all processes remain in the company. This is interesting, for example, if the source code should not leave the intranet. As an alternative to this local approach, we consider Apple’s fledgling cloud service, Xcode Cloud.

The developer, specialist author and consultant Stefan Mayer-Popp explains the respective advantages and disadvantages of the two approaches – both from the perspective of the developer and from an entrepreneurial point of view. With the help of Fastlane and GitLab, an on-premise solution will be implemented during the webinar and then a solution will be developed with Xcode Cloud.
