QD-OLED: Samsung’s 2023 generation is now available for pre-order
The prices for Samsung’s top-of-the-range smart TV for 2023 have been set. The manufacturer has included its QD-OLED and Neo-QLED devices in its own online store; the first dealers also carry the smart TVs.
The QD-OLED models are particularly interesting: They belong to Samsung’s second generation with this display technology, shine brighter and display up to 144 Hertz on the PC. However, this has its price, because the cheapest model – the S90C with 55 inches Diagonale – carries a retail price of 2499 euros.
The S90C TVs are practically adapted variants of last year’s S95B with a similar housing, a slightly worse sound system, but the higher refresh rate when connected to the PC. The version with a diagonal of 65 inches costs 3299 euros.
S95C as the new high-end
The S95C televisions with price recommendations between 2899 euros (55 inches) and 6399 euros (77 inches) put a shovel on top. Samsung advertised a maximum brightness of 2000 cd/m² for this series. The manufacturer does not name specific values for its TVs, but the S90B models require less power to display HDR films, which speaks for a lower maximum brightness.
Also new is the use of a connection box separate from the television, which is connected via a single cable and provides the HDMI 2.1 connections, among other things. The box can either be set up separately or attached to the back of the stand.
Due to this design, the entire display is only 11 mm slim, which makes it particularly suitable for hanging on a wall. There is also more space for speakers across the width – Samsung speaks of a 4.2.2 system (S90C: 2.1).

Old models on sale
Samsung plans to deliver the 55-inch S90C from March 24, 2023, and the 65-inch version from April 7th. The S95C will follow on April 28th. Anyone who orders an S95C or S90C by April 16 will receive Samsung’s HW-S811B soundbar including a subwoofer free of charge. The unit price at Samsung is currently 489 euros; other retailers occasionally list the soundbar from just under 400 euros. Dealers like Expert are also taking part in the campaign. In the price comparison, there are already two different variants with the prefixes GQ and QE: the former are intended explicitly for Germany, the latter for the European market.
If you want to save money, buy a 2022 model – be it from Samsung or even from LG. Samsung itself sells the S95B from 1339 euros (55 inches). It is even cheaper at retailers such as Amazon, Alternate, Computeruniverse or Media Markt / Saturn for 1299 euros. The 65-incher is available from 1749 euros.
